Sunflower Petal Template
The first step in making your paper sunflowers is to use the provided template to cut out all of the petals. Each flower consists of 12 petals, so make sure to cut enough for however many flowers you want to make.

Don’t have access to a cutting machine? No problem! You can use the printable template to cut out the petals by hand. Just print out the template on cardstock, cut out the petals, and trace around them on your chosen colored paper.

Now it’s time to assemble your paper sunflower! First, take one of the petals and fold it in half lengthwise. Then, fold it in half again, this time widthwise. This will create a crease down the center of the petal.

Repeat this process with all 12 petals. Once you have all of the petals folded, start gluing them together. Take two petals and glue them together at the crease, so that they form a “V” shape. Continue adding petals in this manner until all 12 petals are attached to each other.

Next, it’s time to add the center of the sunflower. Cut a small circle out of brown paper and glue it to the center of the petals. You can also add some extra details, such as small black dots around the center to simulate the seeds in a real sunflower.

You can also create the stem and leaves of your paper sunflower if you’d like. Use green paper to create a stem and two leaves, and attach them to the back of the flower. Now you have a complete giant paper sunflower!
