Hey y’all, it’s the spookiest time of the year! Halloween is almost here and I wanted to share something fun that my family and I like to do every year - We’ve Been Booed! It’s a great way to spread Halloween cheer in your neighborhood and get into the spirit of the season!
What is We’ve Been Booed?
If you’re not familiar with We’ve Been Booed, it’s a fun Halloween tradition where you secretly leave a small gift or treats on your neighbors’ doorstep, along with a note or sign that says “We’ve Been Booed!” The idea is that the neighbor then has to “Boo” two other neighbors, and so on, creating a chain reaction of spooky generosity throughout the neighborhood.
It’s such a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit, especially since many of us won’t be able to celebrate Halloween in quite the same way as we usually do. Plus, it’s a great excuse to bake some Halloween treats, get crafty with some DIY Halloween decorations, and really embrace the spooky season!
How to Start We’ve Been Booed in Your Neighborhood
If you want to start We’ve Been Booed in your neighborhood but don’t know where to begin, don’t worry! It’s super easy and all you need are a few printables and some Halloween treats. Here’s how to get started:
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
First, you’ll need to get your supplies together. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Printable We’ve Been Booed signs (you can find some great free printables online, like the ones I’ve included in this post!)
- Treats or small gifts to leave on your neighbors’ doorstep
- A small basket, bucket, or bag to hold the treats/gifts
- A Halloween-themed note or poem to include with the treats (optional)
Step 2: Print Out the We’ve Been Booed Signs
Next, you’ll need to print out the We’ve Been Booed signs. I’ve included some of my favorite free printables in this post, so feel free to use those! Just make sure to print out enough copies for all the neighbors you want to “Boo.”
Step 3: Put Together Your Boo Basket
Once you have your printables ready, it’s time to put together your Boo basket! Fill it with yummy treats or small Halloween-themed gifts, like mini pumpkins, stickers, or temporary tattoos. You can also include a cute Halloween-themed card or poem to really get into the Halloween spirit!
Step 4: Secretly Deliver Your Boo Basket
Now comes the fun part - secretly delivering your Boo basket to your neighbor’s doorstep! Make sure to do it when it’s dark out so they don’t see who’s leaving it. Once you’ve dropped off the basket, ring the doorbell or knock on the door, then run away before they catch you!
Make sure to include the We’ve Been Booed sign with the basket so your neighbor knows what’s going on. The sign will explain the tradition and what they need to do next - “Boo” two other neighbors and leave the sign and treats on their doorstep. The chain continues until everyone in the neighborhood has been Booed!
